To me, potential is a very interesting idea. I see it as a type of Ideal Form or an object or person becoming a perfect form of itself. I see potential as a source of expectations, or the highest something can become. Like a ceiling. The problem is, at least for the potential of people is that we can never become perfect. It's a sad reality that we will never be able to reach our full potential, that does not mean we shouldn't try to better ourselves though. Also, we may exceed the potential seen in the eyes of man but our potential in the eyes of God will never be reached. Nonetheless, God still offers us grace and does not hold the expectation that we will be perfect.
The thing about reaching one's potential is that action is needed to achieve it. You will not reach your potential by sitting around. Also, based on what you have been given by God different levels of potential will be expected. What are you making out of what you have been given? Are you reaching for your potential? A man who jumps is closer to the stars than a man who just stands there because he doesn't believe he can reach them. Chasing your potential takes an amount of faith!
Without sugar and water, lemonade would just be lemons.
