Last summer God placed in me an idea, which at the time gave me much excitement but from then until now it has come and gone at different times. Anyway, my idea is to go on a missions trip to Kansas City. Why did I choose Kansas City? There are a few reasons: 1. The International House of Prayer (IHOP) is there and I've never been but have wanted to. 2. There is a good possibility that I could stay with relative while there, keeping the costs down. and 3. It is a straight shot down I35 from Minneapolis. The third reason plays in bigtime to the logistics of this trip.
So what is my idea? I want to get 3 or 5 or however many people are willing to go and hitchhike down to KC, spend a few days there going to IHOP and doing whatever else we feel God leading us to do, then hitchhike back up to Minneapolis. I would do this over spring break. This may sound dangerous to some of you but I don't believe that we as Christians are called to set up and live safe koosh ball lives. We shouldn't be afraid of allowing God to move through us.
The Logistics
We would start out at some big pit stop (Travel America) along I35 in the Twin Cities and watch cars come off the interstate. We would then target cars heading towards KC and then observe if they have any extra room in their vehicles. Next, in groups of 2 we would approach people who are headed our direction and have room and describe that we are trying to get to KC. Then we let God do the work. The idea being that we would be in a car for a good period of time with nothing to do but talk. So in that time we would share our life, experiences, and faith! We would stay traveling as far as they can and will take us up to Kansas City. Then spend a few days at IHOP and around KC. Then we would reverse the trip up to Minneapolis!
I realize that these details seem thrown together and not worked out but that will come with time and prayer. If you are at all interested, please get in contact with me. And also, I would ask that you might join me in prayer as I seek wisdom and guidance for this radical, unconventional, uncomfortable trip.
