Lead.4.Eternity

Recently I was very convicted. As I looked at a sticky note on my computer which says "Live.4.Eternity" I had a feeling that it was incomplete. This is a phrase in which I have sort of adopted as a motto of mine. It reminds me to live with an eternal perspective and to remember that everything I do is reflected throughout eternity. The reason I felt convicted is that I realized that the way I was looking and thinking about it was self-centered. The eternity I was thinking about was my own. This perspective is good to have but I believe that it is incomplete. As I pondered this another "L" word came to mind which seemed complement "Live.4.Eternity" that phrase is:
"Lead.4.Eternity"
The first motto does not accomplish the command God has for us as believers and more importantly disciples. By adding Lead.4.Eternity the focus turns to others and their eternity. Jesus tells us that the second greatest commandment is to love your neighbors as yourself. Also, the great commission tells us to "Go and make disciples of all nations". I have not been the best at this and I want to make a change. I want to lead others to a life-giving relationship with Christ. What that means is that I need to look outside of myself and beyond those I am closest with who are Christians. I need to make an effort to reach those I know who don't know Christ and to look for other opportunities with anyone who crosses paths with me.

I have already compiled a list of a few people I will be pursuing this fall and I'm praying that God will open opportunities for me to share with them and lead them but also for more to be added to my "Lead List".

On a somewhat related but not really related note: I have accepted a job as youth/associate pastor/water boy/light changer/ lawn mower at River of Life Church in Sauk Centre!!! My first Sunday is this next weekend! I am pumped to be there and to see how God leads us.

Awesome that you will be at River of Life! And thanks for the post. Yes, may we grow in seeing others as God sees them in light of eternity, then serve them to lead them. God bless you on this great venture!
